About Great Bend Housing Authority

The Great Bend Housing Authority was formed in 1967 and construction of the High Rise at 1101 Kansas Ave. was completed in 1972 for low-income families. The High Rise has 95 units that are mostly studio and one-bedroom apartments. GBHA also offers affordable housing assistance through the Section 8 Program to 80 families each month and funding is provided by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Mission Statement

The mission of the Housing Authority of Great Bend is to provide decent,safe and sanitary affordable housing to eligible low-income individuals and families in ways that support deconcentration of poverty, strengthen families and encourage self-sufficiency.
